About Wendy

Wendy Rudge is a Western Australian author with an unusual path into children's books — she spent years as a WA Police Officer before becoming a curriculum developer in the Emergency Services sector, and a foster carer along the way. A background that shines through in her storytelling, blending real-world safety knowledge with warmth and humour kids love.

Her debut picture book, Ruby's Perfect Fire Safety Plan (Wild Dog Books), was released in January 2026.

Wendy is a member of the ASA, SCBWI (Australia West) and CBCA WA, where she serves as Newsletter Editor.

When she's not writing (or reading about writing), she's trying to perfect macarons! She lives near Fremantle with her husband and family and her very opinionated dogs.
